About Us

Hi! I’m Sophie, and I am a food-allergic teen, and also the founder of Food Allergy Alliance. For most of my life, I have had life-threatening food allergies to peanuts, tree nuts, sesame, shellfish, green peas, chickpeas, and lentils.

Living with food allergies can be pretty difficult sometimes, but talking to others often helps me. I have been really lucky to have a strong support system my whole life, from close friends who understand my food allergies, to my parents, who have always looked out for me, to my younger sister, who has all of the same food allergies that I do. However, not everyone has such a strong network of support. I can imagine how lonely it might feel for people without it. As I have gotten older, I became more involved in the food allergy community, becoming part of FARE’s Teen Advisory Group and helping launch a teen interview series for an online food allergy magazine. Through these experiences, I learned about the power of community and mentorship. I also learned a lot of tips from interviewing other teens with food allergies, and felt less alone knowing that other people shared some of the same experiences and feelings that I do as a food allergic teen.

I decided to take it one step further and create Food Allergy Alliance to help others make those valuable connections. I hope to help other teenagers like myself and others affected by food allergies to maintain a positive outlook and make our food-allergic lives the best that they can possibly be!

If you’re interested in getting involved, please contact me here! I’m excited to hear from you!
